Introduction
Here we are again fellow memory addicts…LOL! Yes, that’s right, Corsair has provided yet another sample of their memory product line. The people at Corsair really have the pulse of the end user in their R&D labs. This time we are evaluating the last shout of the DDR1 charge…2gigs of Corsair PC-4400 Pro! Now that AMD has officially made the shift to DDR2 with their AM2 platform DDR1 has come to the end of its life. But, not everyone will jump on the DDR2 bandwagon, and those of us that still have considerable amounts of hardware invested in DDR1 setups will certainly be pleased about this memory. In the memory world there is a definite lack of 2gig DDR1 memory kits above the PC-4000 speed. The reason is high density & high FSB are hard to create because most IC modules cannot do both. Fear not, Corsair has found the perfect IC chip that gives the best of both worlds. For the PC-4400 Pro 2gig kit Corsair uses the Infineon CE-5 memory ICs in order to get the crazy SPD frequency of 275fsb. Corsair shipped the memory to me in their usual presskit box.
